Welcome to Shutters R Us Blog!

Hello and welcome to Shutters R Us Blog.

Shutters R Us is a wholly owned and operated Australian business. We’re based in two factory locations which are both in mascot near the international airport and also handy to the Port of Botany therefore local and international logistics are favourable to us.

We sell an exclusive range of Plantation Shutters and Louvres which include world patented actuation technology(see Patent Certificates). This “no tilt rod” operating system distinguishes our Shutters from any in the world as the most elegant discreetly designed product in the market.

In this blog, we will be writing about shutters, louvres, privacy screens, balustrades and more.   We encourage discussions and questions that you may have in these areas.  Please feel free to leave a comment or contact us anytime.

    Mylton Burn :I have just come across your website its great i must say i have had trouble finding information about shutters most web sites just say the same ol thing and maybe they all buy from the same importer? You appear to manufacture from a variety of materials so I want to know what is basswood that everyone talks about and is it ok to use

    What is this “no tilt rod” system?

    A WORLD FIRST- Patented front loading geared actuating system designed to open and close Heavy Duty Plantation Shutters and Louvers effortlessly and reliably.

    Traditional shutters have a very basic vertical linking stick, side bracket or connecting rod mounted via staples or eyelets tacked into the leading edge of the shutter blade. This is an unreliable and a frail method of construction, the rod detracts from the view and defeats the purpose of its intended design requirements.

    The Shutter Motion shutter range offer full unobstructed views and sturdy construction.

    Our unique design incorporates a high impact nylon rack and pinion neatly built in to the frame controlling each blade by positive direct drive and providing for responsive positioning at any angle

    THE PRODUCT

    The Louver Mover® is a modulated carrier for shutter blades and glass louvers set within a frame. The operation of the shutters is by means of a patented ABS module containing the blade end cap which is snap sealed within the cassette. These cassette modules are constructed in various lengths known as galleries. A Gallery can be 4, 6 or 8 blade configuration supplied as left and right handed sets.

    FEATURES

    * The first and only front-loading component mechanism in the world, which can be extended or reduced in length to suit the installation.
    * It literally snaps together !
    * High impact resistant ABS as on Automobile fenders
    * Extensive color choices in Color Fast ABS
    * UV rated

    BENEFITS

    * Fast low skill assembly
    * Precise set outs are built into component sizes guaranteeing accurate assembly
    * Lengths can be infinite and cut to length to suit customizing
    * Accurate cost control for estimating and production
    * Simple inventory control of packaged Gallery sets and color groups

    ADVANTAGES

    * Non corrosive parts, means no rust or oxidation
    * no maintenance
    * construction and painting of the frame independently of the shutter blades, means all components can be pre finished on a process line and simply component assembled in a clean controlled environment.
    * Optimum Quality Control guaranteed as the components are precisely engineered and the assembly process ensures a simple hold & check
    * Adaptable across 19 Shutter Motion product lines offering consistency of style throughout a project
    * Replaceable individual blade and mechanism if an unlikely need arises for a field repair or replacement of blade or component
    * Retro fit on site in just a couple of minutes instead of costly and risky shipping of the entire panel back to base
    * Color match any material such as wood stains, anodised Aluminum or any Powder coat colors
    * Cheaper than all existing basic lever technology (Breezeway, Interlock etc.)

    APPLICATIONS

    * As an integral part of any Plantation Shutter design… can be built into any existing assembly that currently uses tilt rods.
    * Blinds, Louvers, Air Systems, Skylights, Privacy Screens, Roof Systems

    Basswood is mostly chosen because it is a cheap option and is quite good in almost all internal applications. I wouldnt sell it fro say bathrooms or really high sun light conditions though. All the basswood shutters come from China we dont make any Basswood shutters in Australia, but its a fair product and good if budget is uppermost on your mind.

    I had basswood installed but it just doesnt cut it as far as I am concerned. The finishing of the shutters was not good I wish I could start over. Do your research and maybe pay a little more.

    What your warranty like. I have seen a few web sites for shutters saying all sorts of contadicting statements about their guarrantees.

  8. #8 by shuttersrus - April 8th, 2009 at 15:26

    Our Warranties are the most responsible in the Industry. There are various suites and price point models which have specific guarrantees related to the build and the performance of the product. There isnt and should not be a blanket warranty as sometime advertised by competitors. see our Warranty Proforma here… http://www.shuttersrus.com.au/docs/Warranty_Statement.pdf

    Thank you for your recent installation of the Sun Louvre System erected in the new Auditorium at Castlemaine campus. The attention to detail from the initial design presentation through to site installation was professional and expedient. We have achieved the desired prerequisite co efficiencies and as a bonus your system has added a contemporary appeal to the facade. all the best.

    Just installed our shutters we bought on Ebay last month. Thanks so much for all the advice… it was easier than we thought to do a DIY . We love them and have had so many comments about them already. Our business appreciates good customer feedback and I trust you do too. I will send you some photos.Best regards.

    How do I know what shutters are made in Australia and whats imported from China? I am in the furniture joinery trade ( but dont ask me to make my own) I really do not want to end up with Chinese made basswood or finger jointed painted timber shutters. I have seen the ones from Just Blinds are no way do i want those. Then i found another supplier who said they make them here in Australia. They dont. Its not that I am opposed to Chinese shutters but I sure havent seen a quality shutter from the shutter sellers i have been to. I am happy to go with Aluminium if they look good as i know they will last longer. any feedback appreciated.
